Questions and Tips about your finger size
1: Do all jewellers use the same measurements?
In effect yes but different countries use a different scale, like the difference between mm and inches when measuring something. Our handy finger size conversion chart above allows you to measure in mm and inches and then work out what your finger size is depending on the country you are purchasing your ring from. Most good jewellery retailers online will be able to convert for you if in doubt.
2: Is there a difference between men and women’s finger sizes?
No. All fingers whether male or female use the same scale. Mens hands just tend to me larger than women’s and hence will fall under the bigger sizes. Think of it like your foot size when buying shoes. All feet use the same scale. This is the same for finger sizes.
3: Can I get my ring resized if it’s too loose or too tight?
Yes you can. Some retailers may offer this service for free if it’s a new purchase, others may charge a little. There is a great video here demonstrating a ring re-size. If you inherit a ring or purchase a preloved ring you can go to any reputable jewellery retailer and they will offer a re-sizing service to better fit your finger.
4: Does the width of the band make a difference to my finger size?
If buying a wide wedding band it may be neccesary to add half a finger size to your measurement so that it better fits your finger. Most retail stores will have a ring sizing tool in-store for you to try on various sizes and see what is the most comfortable.
